LC-MALDI is an off line technique that helps to increase sequence coverage for the detected proteins. This approach can be used as an alternative to LC/MS/MS.
LC-MALDI supports a higher data acquisition at the top of the eluting peak to allow a precise selection of precursor ions for MS/MS analysis. It also allows the identification of isobaric peptides (in automated LC/MS/MS ion exclusion strategies often miss ions in closely related components)
LC-MALDI also results in higher sensitivity (MALDI analysis can focus on the peak apex).
The AccuSpot is a high capacity LC spotting system specifically designed for MS analysis (supports 9 Shimadzu Biotech MALDI micro-titer plate formats or 18 ABI MALDI formats).
The spotting probe delivers matrix solution at the same time as the LC eluent optimizing the mixing of the 2 solutions and minimizing hot spots.
