Application: Western blotting
  • The number of people suffering from asthma and allergies in Western cultures has increased significantly in the last few decades. One of the most important cells involved in inflammatory diseases are mast cells. The regulation of cell response to immune triggers (IgE) happens in part by phosphorylation of myosin at specific sites on the heavy and light chain
  • The aim of this research was to investigate serine and threonine phosphorylation of non-muscle myosin heavy chain (MHC) in mast cells during the antigen-induced secretary process
  • The CHIP was used to print small volumes of reagents accurately to proteins immobilized on membranes. In this study, antibodies were printed over a protein band in a 1D SDS-PAGE gel in an array of spots, effectively forming a line of antibody that crossed from above to below the band

Mast cells from the rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-2H3) cell line were studied.

A comparison was made between using conventional Western blotting and using the CHIP (the so-called Nano-Western approach)
